SPECIALTY THRILLS

Speed windmill ride for sale

The speed windmill combines rotation with a rocking arm motion, producing a disorienting, high-energy cycle that flat rides cannot match. It is the natural second marquee for parks that already run a pendulum ride and want a second high-throughput attraction.

  • 24 to 36 riders per cycle with fast loading and a short cycle time
  • Simultaneous rotation and rocking motion for a genuine thrill profile
  • Distinctive, open silhouette that reads well from the park entrance
  • Standard heavy-duty drive and PLC control package

What makes the windmill different

Most flat rides give you one motion. A speed windmill gives you two at once: the passenger carrier rotates continuously while the whole arm assembly rocks through a vertical arc. The combination removes the predictable rhythm that lets riders anticipate the next move, which is exactly why it feels more intense than the individual motions would suggest.

For operators, that translates into a ride with a short cycle, a quick queue and a strong visual identity. The open steel structure shows the motion from every angle in the park, so a windmill placed near an entrance or along a main walkway markets itself.

Where the windmill fits

Second marquee for an established park

If you already run a pendulum ride or a coaster and need to spread queue pressure, a windmill adds a second high-capacity thrill without duplicating the motion.

Indoor-outdoor transition zone

The compact footprint and the fact that riders stay within a defined swept circle make it usable at the edge of an indoor hall or covered plaza.

Carnival and traveling operation

The drive and control can be specified for repeated dismantling, with a folding structure option and a documented packing plan.

Theme-led installation

Rotor blades, hub covers and lighting can be sculpted to a theme — industrial, floral, turbine or a completely bespoke design.

Included in the standard specification

  • Hot-dip galvanised main structure with two-pack polyurethane topcoat
  • Heavy-duty slewing bearing and VFD-controlled main drive
  • Individual restraint bars with position sensors and redundant locking
  • Dual brake system with parking brake and emergency stop chain
  • PLC control cabinet with touchscreen HMI, fault log and cycle counter
  • LED lighting package and audio output
  • Foundation drawings with load cases and anchor template
  • O&M manual, spare parts list and operator training

Frequently asked questions

How is the speed windmill different from a pendulum ride?

A pendulum ride swings a gondola through an arc driven by gravity and motor torque; the passengers travel a long, dramatic path. A windmill rotates its carrier while the arm rocks, keeping riders closer to the centre but subjecting them to two simultaneous motions. The pendulum is the bigger visual spectacle; the windmill has the shorter queue.

What footprint and power supply does it need?

Plan for a swept circle of 16–20 m in diameter including fencing, and allow 380 V three-phase plus neutral and earth at 45–75 kW. The foundation is a single reinforced pad; we supply the load cases for your structural engineer.

Can the ride be transported between fairs?

Yes, if specified at order. We offer a transport configuration with a sectional structure, quick-connect wiring looms and a documented dismantling sequence so the ride can be relocated without re-engineering.

How long does delivery take?

A standard speed windmill leaves the workshop 60–90 days after deposit, depending on theming and whether the transport configuration is required. Shipping adds 20–45 days depending on destination port.
